Ofcom to end home broadband performance reports
June 1, 2023

UK telecoms regulator Ofcom is proposing to discontinue its UK Home Broadband Performance research after the next report is published later in 2023.
The research was initially designed to provide consumers with accurate information regarding the real-world connection speeds that different broadband services provided.
But since then, changes in the rules around the use of connection speeds in the advertising of broadband services, and the introduction of Ofcom’s Voluntary Residential Code of Practice on Broadband Speeds, mean that consumers now have access to accurate speed information during the purchase process.
Accordingly, Ofcom is proposing to stop publishing UK Home Broadband Performance reports, meaning the next report will be the final one.
Ofcom is inviting comments on these proposals by July 13th, 2023.
