Entertainment technology specialist netgem.tv has launched its next-generation of smart TV service. Combining its new app-powered TV personalised service, which will be available on iOS/Android bundled with the UK’s first Freeview and 4K media streamer – the NetBox 4K -, to bring TV streaming experience to a new level for UK consumers.
Promising to offer ‘more time watching, less time searching’, the netgem.tv service offers 50,000+ hours of content with access to +100 live Freeview channels, catch-up content from BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4, My5, UKTV Play, plus access to leading streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, YouTube 4K and Rakuten TV. Newly–refreshed content is always presented by relevance and category, rather than leaving the viewer to face a wall of apps.
Users sign up via an app on iOS or Android which will give them access to recommended content based on their preferences and evolving with their everyday selection. Each time the TV is on or the Mobile App is opened, users can enjoy their favourite shows, watch live or recordings, cast their favourite on-demand series or movies onto the main TV, and using their smartphone as a companion app for searching content and controlling the TV, to give that full streaming experience, across all screens in your home.
The NetBox 4K claims to be the first device in the UK combining full 4K media streaming capabilities over high-speed Wifi, with complete Freeview live channels, catch-up players and TV recording. Inside a compact chassis is a state-of-the-art technology, such as UHD – 4K HDR definition and Dolby Atmos crisp sound, to ensure viewers have the highest quality when enjoying their favourite shows.
The philosophy of the service is to always present content that is relevant to the viewer, either on their personal Mobile App or the main TV screen, and netgem.tv will always prominently present the ‘free-to-view’ or ‘free-for-me’ content (for example, titles from Amazon Prime if the user has an active Amazon Prime Video account).
The 4K device also has the option for viewers to record with a helpful personal video recording (PVR) function. Using any USB memory stick, TV programmes can be saved to for later viewing, meaning no one in the family misses the show they love. This makes it the most affordable 4K PVR in the market, by simply adding a memory stick, instead of buying an expensive hard-drive PVR.
The NetBox 4K device bundled with the netgem.tv personalised experience service will launch first in the UK and will be available to purchase from November 28th via Amazon.co.uk for only £149.
The netgem.tv service is also included in bundles by many UK service providers, such as Three mobile (via its loyalty ‘Wuntu’ app), and a growing number of Fibre Broadband players such as Jersey Telecom, Voneus or Pure Fibre, bringing to life their broadband with this new TV service.
“TV has evolved a lot over the last few years, and with netgem.tv, we are pleased to bring together the best of pay-TV with the best of Free-TV – delivering the greatest value content across all consumer segments,” commented Sylvain Thevenot, Managing Director of netgem.tv. “Whether you are time-poor family parents wanting to follow your favourite series without having to look for content inside multiple Apps, or you are a teenager wanting to watch the latest reality TV show in your bedroom, or simply accessing the recorded News on your tablet, we have reinvented TV with a simple, affordable, and personalised multiscreen TV service.”
