Liberty, Vodafone talking again?
January 4, 2016
Some newspapers have included a Liberty Vodafone deal in their 2016 predictions despite the last round of talks failing in September.
The Daily Mail, in particular, claimed knowledge corporate financiers have been working over Christmas on a possible £140 billion (€190bn) merger between Vodafone and US-listed Liberty Global. It reports John Malone, Liberty’s chairman, has instigated new talks and during the past few weeks Vodafone and Liberty bosses have been meeting major investors to gauge what their appetites may be for a ‘friendly’ merger.
Among many other things Liberty owns Virgin Media and a chunk of ITV.
