FilmRise hires BBC Studios’ Brown

FilmRise, the New York-based film and television studio and streaming network, has announced the appointment of Jim Brown to the position of Director, Digital Distribution and Programming. Previously, Brown was Director Content Sales & Distribution at BBC Studios.

At FilmRise, Brown will grow the Company’s digital distribution footprint by licensing content to partners for their AVoD and/or FAST platforms. In addition, he will work alongside FilmRise Content Sales team, conduct contract negotiations, deal compliance, and monitor key performance metrics. Brown will report directly to Daniel Gagliardi, VP, Digital Distribution and Business Development.

His background with niche content and specialty streamers is going to be incredibly valuable with our extensive library of genre programming.”

Before joining FilmRise, Brown was at BBC Studios for over eight years on the Content Sales team, where he licensed content to AVoD, SVoD and linear platforms, working with partners such as Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Ovation, Criterion Channel and BritBox. Prior to that, he was Director of Operations for WWE where he helped launch and subsequently managed the WWE Classics SVoD business unit. He also served as Manager of Programming and New Media at Insight Communications where he was responsible for programming acquisitions and strategy for their On Demand platform. Brown also held various positions in Affiliate Sales and Marketing for Viacom Networks (formerly MTV Networks), including Manager of Broadband Development and Contract Manager.
