BBC World Service in Athens to record The Arts Hour On Tour
May 31, 2023
Featuring live music from Rena Morfi and Marina Satti and stand-up comedy from Zissis Roumbos, the programme will include interviews and conversation with Athens creatives including theatre director and performer Mario Banushi, and film producer Amanda Livanou.
Recorded in English for BBC World Service radio, The Arts Hour on Tour visits cities all over the world to explore their hottest trends and issues, by talking to the artists who live and work there.
In Athens, the cradle of European civilisation, we’ll hear how contemporary Greek culture is being enriched by the ebb and flow of migration and cultural diversity.
BBC presenter Nikki Bedi will be joined on stage by artists who are looking at ancient myths and long standing traditions with fresh perspectives, following the economic crisis of recent years in Greece. The discussion will be interspersed with live music and stand-up comedy performances.
It will be broadcast on BBC World Service Radio in July to millions of listeners worldwide.
