Robot artist to address UK Lords

The Communications and Digital Committee of the UK’s House of Lords – the upper parliamentary chamber – is to hear from Ai-Da, a life size AI robot artist, on October 11th, as part of its inquiry into the future of the UK’s creative industries. The committee will also take evidence from industry and academic experts on AI in the creative industries.
The committee will take evidence from industry and academic experts on the effects of technology on the creative industry workforce and intellectual property law. The committee will then quiz Ai-Da’s creator Aidan Meller on the possibilities and limitations of are using AI in the creative sector.
Ai-Da the robot will also answer the committee’s questions around its own process for creating art and how it differs from the methods of human artists.
Possible topics and areas for discussion with witnesses include:
- What are the opportunities around AI in the creative industries?
- What are the challenges around rights, intellectual property, and fair treatment of workers?
- How do robot artists work?
- What is the role of technology in creating art and how will that change in future?
