Warner Bros Discovery celebrates Pride Month
June 1, 2022
Warner Bros Discovery will celebrate Pride Month this June with a range of new commissions, on-air and social activities as 2022 marks 50 years of Pride in the UK.
A dedicated content collection celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community is available now via discovery+ in the UK & Ireland. The collection includes four discovery+ Originals; Trixie Motel, Book of Queer, Generation Drag and Control alongside TLC’s existing fan-favourites I Am Jazz and Nate & Jerimiah.
In addition to the ‘Always Proud’ content collection, discovery+ and a selection of Warner Bros Discovery’s linear channels in the UK will also feature new network promos and indents in rainbow colours throughout June. Further, TLC will be hosting a ‘Pride Stunt’ on June 26th from midday onwards, featuring a variety of LGBTQIA+ content and talent.
Food Network and HGTV UK social media accounts will also showcase a series of stories from their LGBTQIA+ social media creators and talent throughout Pride Month.
As well as activity on screen, the ‘Always Proud’ campaign will also be rolled out across Warner Bros Discovery offices in the UK & Ireland as staff and internal employee groups, including PriDe and GenD, host a series of networking events aiming to raise awareness and celebrate diversity under the theme of intersectionality. As part of this Warner Bros Discovery will also work with Mermaids, a UK charity organisation which supports transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children and young people.
Simon Downing, SVP Marketing and Head of Factual & Docs, Warner Bros Discovery, said: “As an organisation we stand for equality, inclusion and mutual respect and we are delighted to mark Pride again this year with a fantastic collection of content celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community, along with a series of on-air and internal initiatives. It is the diverse minds, experiences and unique points of view brought by our employees, partners, and creators that is reflected in our storytelling and our culture and we are proud to play our role as a media organisation in helping to raise awareness of the importance of an inclusive society whilst celebrating diversity.”
