Santiago Segura signs with Amazon Prime Video for LOL: Last One Laughing

Amazon Prime Video today announced a new Amazon Original comedy variety series that will be presented by the acclaimed actor, writer, director and producer Santiago Segura (Father there is only one, Torrente). In the series, Segura will pit 10 famous Spanish comedians against one another to see who can keep a straight face while simultaneously trying to make their opponents laugh in a competition for a grand prize of 100,000 euros. LOL: Last One Laughing (LOL: Si te ríes, pierdes) [Spain] is due to launch next year exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, and will introduce audiences in more than 240 countries and territories to some of the best comedic talent in Spain.
The six-part Amazon Original series will follow the group of comics as they compete to be the Last One Laughing. For six hours, there is only one rule: if you laugh, you lose. The last comedian to remain straight-faced will be the winner, and will be able to donate €100,000 to a charity of their choice. The yet-to-be announced stars will each bring diverse comedic styles to the series: from stand-up, character, improvisational and physical comedy and more.

LOL: Last One Laughing is showrun by Miguel Martín and produced by Endemol Shine Iberia (a Banijay company). This new production is an adaptation of the popular Japanese Amazon Original series, HITOSHI MATSUMOTO Presents Documental, produced and starring Hitoshi Matsumoto who leads ten comedians in an anything goes “battle of laughter” behind closed doors; a successful format which has since been replicated exclusively for Prime Video in in Mexico (hosted by Eugenio Derbez) and Australia (hosted by Rebel Wilson).
This series will join the thousands of TV shows and movies available on Prime Video, including other Spanish Amazon Original series such as El Corazón de Sergio Ramos and Six Dreams, as well as the upcoming releases of The Challenge: ETA, El Cid, La Templanza and A Private Affair.
